You have to make sure the ColdFusion MX 7 is running before you can
configure the connectors.

This error indicates it is not.

Same error here, the problem seems to be to get the service : Coldfusion MX 7
Application server running, it simply won't run :disgust; I was hoping to
work from home on a project from work but I lost 1 day because of the lousy
installer Even compiling apache + php and mysql and installing that is less
painful. I'm starting to dislike Macromedia products, they used to be lean and
mean, userfriendly but nowadays they become bulkier, reminds me of Microsoft
and it's office suite.

I had to uninstall ColdFusion MX 6.1 completely before I could install CF 7 and
not get the above error message. Suprisingly, I had problems uninstalling CF
6.1 (uninstaller was freezing) and had to use the instructions on this page:

http://www.macromedia.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_19187

to remove it completely - I also had to uninstall my CF 7 the same way before
I could get it to re-install without errors. Good job making the upgrade
process user-friendly Macromedia!

Now ColdFusion is running, but I had problems when starting JRun. I got this
error message.

No jndi.properties file was found in samples's SERVER-INF directory. The JRun
ke
rnel requires JNDI information.

But this file exist at directory
E:\CFusionMX7\runtime\servers\coldfusion\SERVER-INF.

The problem was solved, but when I try to add the connector via wstool.exe, I
receive an error message saying that Jrun or ColdFusion is not running (but
they are), the firewall is blocking JNDI port (but the log file shows that Jrun
is listening the port), or it's being blocked by a security configuration (but
I didn't configure anything about security yet).

Does anybody know?

With Windows 2003 or Windows XP before SP2, you have to add ports 2920, 51011
and 8500 to your firewall and let it activated, because even when disabled, the
firewall blocks (I don't know what exactly happens). That's what I had to do.

I had a problem getting the developer version of CFMX7 running on my laptop
with Apache 2.x on Windows XP Pro. Everything went fine on the install until
the end when it told me it couldn't configure the web server connector.

I tried running the web server connector tool from the Windows menu and with
the batch file but it gave me the error that it couldn't find JRun/ColdFusion
running anywhere and that it "could not connect to port 2920 on host
127.0.0.1".

I then checked the coldfusion-out.log and my windows services which told me
that "ColdFusion MX: application services are now available" and everything
seemed fine there. However, the coldfusion-err.log told me that "Security
alert: attempt to connect to JRun server from a 10.32.1.15 host" which told me
that the connector tool was trying to connect from my LAN IP address. This
ultimately clued me into that this was a network conflict issue with the web
server connector installer.

I resolved the issue by temporarily disabling both my wireless and wired
network connections. Once I did this, I was able to run the web server
connector tool from the batch file Apache_connector.bat (with a change to an
Apache2 directory!) cleanly - the connector GUI interface from the Windows menu
also works now. Hope this helps someone out there.
